Heard of microbeads? Now scientists have discovered more tiny plastic terrorizing our oceans through none other than your favourite fleece. It turns out that when we wash clothes containing any synthetic materials, microfibers are released – with nearly 50% of these making it through to your local wastewater treatment plant and into our oceans. This is particularly dangerous, as they have the potential to poison the food chain. Luckily plasticpollutioncoalition have found some ways you can help prevent this.
